XR4REHAB

Goal

VR4REHAB is an Open Innovation Network that believes in the power of virtual reality for rehabilitation. Our goal is to stimulate the creation of VR based rehabilitation tools by bringing together relevant stakeholders and exchange knowledge.

We specifically focus on enabling the co-creation of Virtual Reality-based rehabilitation tools. The use of VR in rehabilitation offers many advantages for patients and therapists. It makes therapy not only more fun, and therefore increases patient engagement, but is easy to monitor and adjust to individual needs. Furthermore, it reduces pain, is cost-effective, and can be done in the comfort of the patients’ home.

VR4REHAB was born in 2017 as an Interreg NWE project focused on developing VR based rehabilitation tools in co-creation with seven European partnersThe project has been developed into 8 different teams, each one is working on a specific Virtual and Augmented Reality application.

VR4REHAB was extended after obtaining a grant from Interreg North West Europe second call for capitalization to suport the project “Virtual and Augmented Reality for Covid-19 rehabilitation”.

Currently the Association XR4REHAB has been created to continue supporting the project and extending the research areas towards the use of technology in rehabilitation. This is an example of success in the long term durability of an European Funded Project.
