EuroXR Open Forum: Present and Future of Haptics in XR Development Workflows

27 October 2026 | 14:00 CET | Online

EuroXR is pleased to announce a new EuroXR Open Forum exploring the role of haptic technologies in the development of extended reality experiences.

As XR continues to evolve, the way users interact with virtual environments is becoming increasingly important. Haptics can add a physical dimension to these experiences, allowing users to not only see and hear virtual content, but also interact with it through touch and force feedback. At the same time, integrating haptic technologies into existing XR development workflows presents a number of technical and practical challenges.

This Open Forum will bring together experts from Haption, one of EuroXR’s corporate members, to discuss the current state of haptics in XR and the developments that could shape its future.

We are delighted to welcome Jérôme Perret, CEO of Haption, and Thomas Howard, R&D Engineer at Haption (France). With more than 25 years of experience in haptic technologies, Haption works with organisations across sectors including energy, robotics, aeronautics, automotive, and research. Its expertise covers force-feedback and haptic interaction, enabling users to physically interact with and perceive forces within virtual environments.

During the discussion, Jérôme Perret and Thomas Howard will explore how haptic technologies are currently integrated into XR development workflows, the challenges involved, and what is needed to make haptic interaction more accessible and effective. The conversation will also look at future technological developments and the growing role of haptics in multimodal XR and human–machine interaction.

Haption is also collaborating with EuroXR as a partner in the SENSORAMA project, contributing to the development of realistic, adaptive, and interoperable multimodal XR solutions. This collaboration provides an additional perspective on how haptics can contribute to richer and more natural XR interactions.

The session will be moderated by Marcin Kasica, who will guide the discussion and facilitate questions from the audience.
